Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the CMA exam?

Each part of the CMA exam lasts for 4 hours. It includes 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and two essay questions. The MCQs must be completed within 3 hours, and the essays take 1 hour.

To be eligible, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and two years of professional experience in management accounting or financial management. They must also be a member of the IMA.

The CMA exam is offered three times a year during specific testing windows: January/February, May/June, and September/October. Candidates can schedule their exam on any available date within these windows.
